FAQ

What other services does Belmont provide in addition to traditional landscaping?
Belmont’s work goes beyond plantings, or softscaping, to include handling structural features, like lighting, fences, garden paths, fire pits, and ponds. We also build outdoor rooms, terraces, and decks.

Can landscaped property improve property value?
Yes, a professionally-landscaped property definitely increases the value of a home. It gives a home “curb appeal,” as well as a sense of place, meaning and value. Landscaping is the first thing visitors see. Realtors have stated that first impressions can add 20 percent to a home’s value, a figure that rivals the return on a new kitchen or bath.

Do you ever help clients stage their homes when they are preparing them for the market
Yes, Belmont can help improve the look of a home and get it ready to be sold. Our crews can quickly give a home a “facelift” to a current look. We can also work within a client’s budget or create a budget and suggest landscaping ideas to improve the overall look and feel for the highest ROI

Do you work outside of Fairfield and Westchester?
Yes, definitely. We have done work in the Adirondacks, the North Fork of Long Island, Vermont and on Martha’s Vineyard. On the residential side many of our clients have second homes in other parts of the country so we’re happy to travel. Our guys love it too!

Do your consult with clients on what might work best for their particular piece of property?
Belmont can work with the client to generate a detailed plan. For example, some homes call for creating a link between indoor and outdoor. Belmont creates that harmonious flow. If a client’s landscape goal is more low maintenance and they wan to “Set it and Forget it” Belmont will create a plan that makes that happen.

Does Belmont implement other designers’ or architects’ work?
Yes, outside of our “world-class” architect partners we often get called for installation work only. Other firms and designers will call us because they have the confidence that Belmont will execute their work correctly and efficiently. They know our crews are meticulous and always leave the client’s property better than they found it.

Do you provide tutorials or coaching around gardening or plant care?
“Garden coaching” is one of our specialties. We find that many of our clients are eager to become better gardeners and want to learn more about how to care for their property. To meet this need, we often provide garden coaching as a one-time service or as ongoing consulting. We can help with everything from teaching clients how to battle weeds to helping them set up composting systems.

How do you work with clients who might be particularly cost-conscious in this economic climate
Belmont understands that we are all in these challenging times together. That is why we can provide our clients with a range of approaches reflecting different cost scenarios. Our clients are our partners—our projects, as with all partnerships, are only successful if the costs work for both parties involved.

What kinds of gardens do you typically design?
Our garden expertise is far-ranging and extends to formal English gardens, rock gardens, cutting gardens, and vegetable gardens. Our world-class landscape architect partners have designed and executed work all over the globe, so we are comfortable in multiple genres. And not only will we design and install a garden, but if so desired, we will also provide a tutorial for you as part of our service. our clients can get involved with working with their land.

Is there a Belmont philosophy or approach?
We love what we do. We care about the environment and we care about our clients. We believe that Belmont’s non-linear and innovative thinking combined with a utilitarian approach sets us apart. We understand that landscaping is undertaken for many reasons: some having to do with lifestyle, some have to do with utilitarian concerns. Often, it’s a combination of both approaches. Whatever the client’s goals, we work to meet those goals by providing superior service.
